Clémentine Beauvais: Die Königinnen der Würstchen, Carlsen Verlag 2017 €16,99

Man stelle sich drei füllig Grazien auf der Landstraße vor, die in einer Facbookumfrage zu Hässlichkeitsköniginnen ihrer Schule gewählt wurden, dazu drei nicht passende Räder samt Anhänger für Würstchenverkauf und einen unschlagbaren Plan. Beauvais schickt alles auf eine Reise nach Paris, würzt mit Witz, Schlagfertigkeit, ja Klugheit und einer Reihe interessanter menschlicher Begegnungen. So macht sie aus typischen Mobbingopfern charismatische Mädchen voller Elan, welche die Herzen der LeserInnen im Sturm erobern. Beauvais entfesselt sie von Anbeginn rasant. Die schmerzlichen Tränen der gefühlsbetonten „Goldwurst“ Astrid versiegen schnell, die kleine, schlaue „Silberwurst“ Hakima, wird ins Boot geholt. Die zynische Mireille, jetzige „Bronzewurst“ und Rekordhalterin des Titels, arbeitet die Radl-Route nach Paris aus, denn jede hat einen Grund am Nationalfeiertag im Élyséepalast zu sein. Räder und Anhänger werden gefunden und aufgemöbelt, Hakimas Bruder, ein junger Kriegsveteran im Rollstuhl, wird die Truppe begleiten und fährt voran. Wie er im Laufe der Reise seinen Lebensmut wieder zurückerobern wird, ist eine weitere, zarte Nebengeschichte. In Cluny werden die 3 Würste schon erwartet. Ob man sie dazu überreden kann, in schönen Kleidern dem Abschlussball der Universität beizuwohnen? In einem abgelegenen Schloss erfahren sie von einem Schwesternschicksal und einer Liebesgeschichte ohne Toleranz. Ihr ungewöhnliches Treiben erregt immer mehr Aufmerksamkeit in der Öffentlichkeit und so bekommen sie am Ende sogar vier Einladungkarten für die Feier in Paris. Doch hier kommt nun endlich einiges anders als geplant. Ein rundum gelungenes, amüsantes Jugendbuch, das uns in überbordender Kreativität den Umgang mit engstirnigen, ausgrenzenden, verletzenden Meinungen lehrt.

Piglettes - Interview with Clémentine Beauvais
On the Bookfair in Frankfurt we were able to meet the French Author Clémentine Beauvais. Two of her Books have been published in Germany. The newest one ist called Piglettes, Königin der Würstchen in German. Another book, that has been published is called Drecksstück in German. Clémentine Beauvais told us, that she wanted to write a funny book, because she got very good responds on a darker book with funny aspect that she wrote earlier. She told us, that she loves cheeky and funny characters. Her opinion is, that not all books have to have such a character, but for that Story it was important for her to have at least one. Another reason, that she wrote the book was, that there are not many books with Comedy in France. When we asked her about her Inspiration for the three girls she told us, that there are parts of her personality in every one of the three girl. She is a bit shy like Hakima, she is geeky like Astrid and a bit cheeky like Mireille. We asked her if she is a vegitarian, because in her book it is important, that they also have vegitarian sausages. She told us, that she is not a vegitarian, but that there are many vegitarians in the UK, where she lives at the Moment. The reason Mireille wants to go to Paris is to tell her father, that she is his daughter. But in the end she doesn’t do it, when she meets him. We asked Clémentine Beauvais, why Mireille chose not to. She told us, that at first Mireille had that fantasy of that perfect father, but she had a father the whole time. Phillip, the boyfriend of her mother is all the father she needs. For her book Drecksstück Clémentine Beauvais was inspired by a similar incident in France. A few Teens, that belonged to the lower parts of society kidnappen a jewish man and tortured him. Clémentine Beauvais wanted to show that Teens form the upper classes in society can have the Same predujes and hate. She told us, that she sometimes can relate with the narrator David, who is not so Fond of the idea, kidnapping a girl, but goes with them. Clémentine Beauvais Said, that in Highschool, she also was more the passive, following student. The reason Clémentine Beauvais wanted to be an Author, was that she always had wanted to teach and write. As a little kid she also wrote little stories for her sister. At the momemt she is teaching creative writing in the UK and is writing another novel at the moment, which Takes place in the UK after brexit. Anna (15)
